Our Assessment Process and What to Expect
All our clients go through a thorough assessment process before we can decide if we can offer you counselling as we need to make sure it is suitable and safe for you at this time.
This process can involve several sessions in some instances
- This assessment process is not counselling but it is a necessary part of deciding if we can offer you counselling going forwards.
- The process gives you an opportunity to discuss why you have come to ‘Piece Into Peace’ and what you want to get from the counselling. You will be seen by one of our experienced counsellors who will ask you several questions, explain what counselling involves and answer any questions you might have. This assessment process does not commit you to counselling and does not mean we can offer counselling services.
- Assessment session (s) will normally take 50 minutes and are charged from £60 each.
- If after the first assessment meeting, further assessment is needed, we will ask you to attend individual sessions (for only Couple session and Family sessions) – in the case of family sessions, the parents and adult children will be seen individually. This is needed before deciding whether ongoing counselling would be helpful for you at this time.
- If, at the end of this assessment process it is agreed that we may be helpful, it is then for you to decide whether you would like to undertake ongoing counselling with us. If so, the counsellor will explain the next steps and discuss the cost of counselling sessions with you.
- The counsellor you see for the first assessment meeting is not necessarily the counsellor you will see if further assessments are agreed or if you decide to take up ongoing counselling.
- If your counsellor doesn’t think we are best placed to help you, they may suggest another organisation or other services that would be available to you.
Starting Ongoing Counselling
- If you and the counsellor decide that ongoing counselling may be helpful, we will ask you for details of when you are available to attend ongoing counselling. Your counselling will then be the same time and day each week moving forward. This routine is very important. Remember to update us if your availability changes.
- Please note that our sessions (assessment and ongoing counselling) are carried out “online”, therefore you will be required to make appropriate childcare arrangements. It can be very distressing for a child and distracting for parents whilst the assessment/counselling takes place.
WAITING LIST – You may have to wait for a counselling appointment. We may not be able to offer a service if you cannot make the times when we operate.
What Will It Cost?
- The assessments are charged at £60 for each session, and this includes our admin costs and the counsellors’ time in carrying out the assessments. With concession fee of £45 for each session for those 65 years and above; or students.
- If we assess that we can offer you on-going Counselling, the Counselling costs starts from £60 for 50 minutes session depending on the services you require. For a limited time only, there is a reduced fee for those that pay for four (4) sessions in advance. Please speak with your counsellor for more information.
- Payments are made through BACS or online payment method in advance of your session.
- Your Counsellor will discuss with you the cost of ongoing counselling. We require full payment in advance of each session to secure any ongoing appointments, using our online payment method.
Our Cancellation Policy:
We must cover our costs for planned sessions even where clients don’t attend. For this reason, if you do not attend and fail to give 48 hours’ notice of cancelling a session, you will forfeit the FULL cost of that session.
